DESCRIPTION
---------------------
Experienced players can use Guitarist on the road to experiment with chord progressions, and record riffs or solos on a "musical notepad" for later study back in the studio with their full kit. While novices can program in existing tablature and chords to popular songs, and then give note-perfect performances to their friends. Guitarist features a selection of guitar interfaces that have been especially tailored to the iPhone to give, for the first time, the ability to truly play music written for a five foot mechanical device on a three inch touch screen.

- The Manual Fret guitar is an emulation of a real guitar. Traverse the full fretboard to the 21st fret, then hold the string at a fret and tap or strum over the pickup to sound the appropriate note. Fret and strum chords, or slide solo notes.

- The Hammer-On Guitar assists your playing by removing the concept of plucking the string, and allowing you to concentrate instead on fretting notes, using the same principle as the real-world guitarist technique of Hammer-On. Press on a fret to instantly play that note, and then can either Hammer-On again to a higher fret, or Pull-Off (remove your finger) to a lower fret. This allows complex solos to be played at speed. Again, the full 21 frets and open string are available.

- The Tab Guitar takes the opposite path from the Hammer-On Guitar and removes the concept of fretting strings, allowing you to concentrate on plucking notes. Songs are pre-programmed into the Tab Guitar, and then played back live, measure by measure, by tapping or strumming at the pickup. This is represented in Guitarist through the use of the standard guitar notation tablature. You will be able to find tablature to almost any song on the Internet, and anyone can use the Tab Guitar to play their favourite songs live. The Tab Guitar can even be used as a songwriting tool, with 18 of the most common chord types across all keys accessible with a finger-press, or you can program in your own chord pattern via a representation of the fretboard. Program in complex chord progressions, and then strum them back live at full speed.

- The Scale Guitar allows you to play runs through a large number of musical scales (from Blues to Chinese) in any key. Both the key and scale can be changed at any time and the scale played by running a finger up and down the guitar neck. Not only can the Scale Guitar be used as a live performance instrument, but it provides a useful teaching aid by displaying the notes in each scale and key as you play.

Please note that Guitarist does currently not support tuning for left-handed playing.

Pros and cons of Guitarist app for iPhone and iPad

Guitarist app good for

Better than pocket guitar, I give 4 stars because I miss the bass and the chord higjlight! But its PERFECT!!!!
Finally I have a usable guitar simulator! Way way better than the "featured" PocketGuitar. Excellent UI. Good for both single-handed and double-handed playing. Not just for 5-second show-off. You can actually play a complete song.
Amazing app for good price. I play electric guitar and whenever Im not home I just pull my iPhone out and play. Very recommended app for guitar its the best one
it is an awesome app, particularily the tablature feature, and my only slight problem is that its a bit tricky to play some of the notes. totally recommend it tho.
Great app besides a crash here and there. Lots of great options and tools.
Fun to wright your own tabs but the guitars arent the greatest because there is too much echo but over all fun to wright your own songs or to look for tabs on the Internet

Some bad moments

I purchase it 2 days ago expecting something that works properly but It crashes my Iphone 3g..... When the application works, it is very interesting toy but it crashed my iphone 4 times in 6 times I ran the program. I prefer to remove the aplication due to the problems caused... Visiting the developer site, they apologize all users and explain its not a program bug and suggests to "reset" the iphone periodically. I think its not fair pay for a program with a bug.... Im afraid of causing an iphone problem reseting all the time and leaving this program running, so I removed it..... US$ 4 right into the trash!!!!
dose not play like a guitar at all a wast of money no string control it feels like your presing a buton mys well be a key board, easer too play. the tabing your song is the only good and semy usfel thing but still vary limited for sixs bucks you get what you pay for i guess want to play a real guitar cary one with you evry warere you go fun to play with,, i guess i was expecting better like, when you tuch the string you can move them and the frets all being the same size is horabule id rather a smaller scaling then all the same size. ok im don ranting. i hope they keep foling with the guitar idea it could be grate like moving up and down the neck could be from the senstrumiter thing and make it feel like just a little guitar and work on the slide sounds um you know make it feel like a guitar.
definitely a fun little gizmo to play around with, but i have trouble envisioning myself using this as an instrument for either studio purposes or live permormance. as far as the chords go, the interface difficult to use for a chord reference. The one useful tool i found was the tab feature. it is great for when you dont have a guitar around and still feel like writing, however it is still quite tedious, and there are no alternate tunings available.
After playing about 3 notes in hammer on mode the app crashes. Every time.
Wow, most times people are overly critical on iTunes, but with this app, far too kind. Playing it is close to impossible, so maybe while the design is ok (electric guitars sound DISGUSTING and are impossible to shut up, like each note goes on forever no matter what setting you use) the actual product is far too hardto use. Solution for playing guitar on the road... bring your guitar on the road, this isnt even close to the real thing, and people dont say its not supposed to be, because I feel cheated out of my money if this isnt supposed to be even close to a real guitar. Maybe its just the iPhones fault for being far too small and hard to hold. Either way, this app stinks, and Ill never use this company again, even though Pianist was a positive experience, this most certainly was not. Major disappointment.
This is a pretty cool app ... no doubt about it. But, it crashes repeatedly. Is it worth the money? If it worked yes ... but the bugs have to be fixed. Everytime I use it it crashes. Worthless unless this is fixed.
